Stedfast Associations are related to The Boys’
Brigade, the first uniformed organisation for Boys, founded in
Glasgow, Scotland, in 1883 by Sir William Smith.
They exist in various locations in different
parts of the world as a means by which former members (Officers
and Boys) of the Brigade, their wives or husbands, and friends of
the movement can have a means of social contact with each other.
At the same time, there is the opportunity to keep in touch with
what is happening in the Brigade, and often to provide informal
assistance to the local units (Companies or Battalions) of the
Brigade.
Falkirk is a medium sized town in Stirlingshire,
Scotland, and is the centre of the local government area of
Falkirk. The main towns within the area, apart from Falkirk
itself and its suburban areas, are Grangemouth, Denny, and Bo’ness,
and in addition there are the old "villages" of Larbert
and Stenhousemuir, Polmont, Brightons, Redding, Muiravonside, Shieldhill,
Camelon, Bonnybridge, Haggs and Airth.
This area is the territory of Falkirk & District Battalion
of The Boys’ Brigade and its constituent Companies, and
it is from these Companies that membership of the Association
is largely drawn. Our activities are based mainly in or from
the Falkirk area. We also welcome ex-members who now live
outwith the area and ex-members of other Companies in the
surrounding areas where a Stedfast Association does not exist.
